Rocking a sleek Gucci cap, white sleeveless and jeans, MadeinTYO sits with his feet up against the back mirror of the trailer. His longtime friend and close collaborator 24hrs sits comfortably beside him. As 24hrs notes, he’s watched MadeinTYO start from nothing, with barely enough to scrape by in his pockets to becoming a massive artist in just over a year.
Both artists have seen their fair share of struggles on the journey, but that’s only enlightened them more and caused them to grow into multi-talented and eccentric talents. With that they’ve seen the many different sides and sounds of the industry.
“I feel like I stand on both sides,” says 24hrs in regards to genres of hip hop. “I love both sides, I love Nas, I love 21 Savage. I like TYO, I like fabulous. You feel me? I’m a real student of hip hop.”
“Hip hop right now is one of the biggest genres…” continues MadeinTYO. “It’s just taking over. [So] put something out there.” Just as MadeinTYO did with the viral hit “Uber Everywhere” which has racked up over 57 million views since being dropped in 2016. In today’s industry one track can take an artist to the moon but staying there is an entirely different practice altogether. Both of these artists experiences have helped them learn that exact message.
“Somebody’s literally in their crib right now, just cut a song, who’s happy as f*** like: ‘I’m about to put this on SoundCloud’ and six months from now we’ll all know it,” says 24. Regardless, MadeinTYO and 24hrs are going to keep focusing on themselves, levelling up with each no track they put together.
To put it simply and in MadeinTYO’s own words, “I’m just a young wavy n**** that’s gon' stay fly, stay putting jams, take care of his family.”
